About our candles
Our candles are made from a mix of palm oil and soya, which is ethically sourced from West Malaysia. Our candles
have been sourced this way for over 13 years by our manufacturer. We are aware of concerns of palm oil recently with
the demand for biofuels leading to deforestation. Rest assured our palm oil is grown sustainably in official areas
that have not derived from deforestation.
Our organic candles contain no chemicals and will therefore not omit any toxic fumes. In the scented candles we
only use natural essential oils. To get the best out of our organic candles you need to follow some simple rules:
- Always trim the wick of the candle to about 1/4 inch (1/2cm) before each use.
- Burn the candle 1 hour for each 1inch (2.2cm) of candle (diameter). So if you have a 2 inch diameter candle you should burn the candle for a minimum of 2 hours.
- With larger candles follow this procedure to establish a burning pattern for the candle and eliminate pools forming and uneven burning. Burn the candle for the minimum time and then extinguish, preferably with a candle snuffer. Then do not relight for at least an hour. For example: If you have a 2 inch candle, burn for 2 hours and extinguish. Wait for at least one hour before relighting. You must then burn for a minimum of 2 hours.
- Organic candles are very pure and will not smoke, if you experience smoke this could be due to the wick. Make sure the wick is kept trimmed to 1/4 inch.
- Never place the candle in a draught. This can cause the candle to burn unevenly as well as posing a risk to the surroundings.
- If you keep your scented tea lights for a while and when you come to use them again you find that they have developed white spots, do not worry. It is the essential oils coming to the surface of the pure organic wax. If you have a hair dryer, simply blast some hot air over the surface of the candle and the spots will disappear.
If you purchase any of our metal tea light holders, please remember that these will get hot when you burn your tea
light. Do not let them come into contact with any other object and allow them to cool before you touch them.
